The only ingredients you will need:

  • 2 room-temperature ripe bananas (ripe bananas look like the picture above – lots of brown spots. If they don’t have brown spots yet, they’re not ripe!)
  • 5 juicy medjool dates, chopped in half, with pits removed
  • 2 frozen banana (simply peel and stick in your freezer before you go to bed at night. In the morning, voila!)
  • 1/4 cup water

Do you know a ripe banana from an unripe banana?

This is an UNRIPE BANANA:

Now, this sweet delicious beauty is a RIPE BANANA, and is what you want yours to look like before you ever eat it:

Eating fruit only when it’s ripe is super important for us healthy eaters because only then are the flavors and the vitamins “unlocked.” Remember: eating unripe fruit = indigestion + gas + bland flavor!

Unripe bananas taste and smell starchy, have little flavor and are hard to peel. Ripe bananas smell and taste sweet and they peel easily.

Directions:

This smoothie will be blended in stages:

  1. First, place the room-temperature bananas into your blender. Blend until smooth. You do not need to add water, as it will dilute the taste of the smoothie. If it’s too thick, add less than 1/4 cup of water.
  2. Next, add the pitted medjool dates to the blender with the bananas you just blended and blend until smooth.
  3. Last, add the frozen bananas to the mixture and blend until very smooth (there should be no chunks!).

Enjoy!
